2 STONECHATS (1M, 1F) & 7 GREY PARTRIDGES around Nettleden Road, Water End.


2 STONECHATS, 1 Male & 1 Female, at horse paddock at W end of Nettleden Road, Water End.

7 GREY PARTRIDGES, including 2 small young juveniles, feeding on ploughed field below Highpark Wood in rain.

  3. Thanks both of you. Yes, was great to see a family party of Grey Partridges, its great to see they are doing pretty well as only a few years ago I'd never seen any locally.

  5. Should have read the caption earlier. The imm. male (I presume) is retaining some head feathers. Can't see from the photo.

Hi Paul, yes apart from the obvious male & female on the left in the lower pic, & the two young juvs, at least two of the other birds seemed to still have some juv feathers with otherwise adult plumage, I guess in moult, so I felt I could only really describe them as immature. The bird on the right in the lower pic had some cream feathering on the head & cream-brown feathering on the breast still, & the bird second from left in the first pic appeared pretty much half way between adult & juvenile in plumage.
